Blinds & awnings for Green Point

Mouille Point's inland neighbour, wrapped around the Green Point urban park and the stadium precinct — apartment living with a different set of aspects to solve than the sea-facing strip next door.

Park-facing units, not just sea-facing

Where Mouille Point's brief is almost entirely about the ocean side, Green Point splits between units that catch a slice of Table Bay over the rooftops and units that face the Green Point urban park, its biodiversity garden and the stadium precinct instead. A park-facing lounge tends to get softer, greener light through the day, which changes the openness we would choose on a sunscreen roller blind — often a touch more open than the 3-5% we spec on a full-glare sea-facing wall next door.

Still fully exposed to the same weather

Green Point sits on the same open stretch of coast as Mouille Point, so the south-easter and the winter north-westerly storms reach it just as directly — there's no ridge or headland doing any sheltering here either. Anything mounted outside gets the same wind-rated, salt-air spec we use a block away, regardless of which direction the unit actually faces. On a balcony, that usually means a zip screen rather than a loose drop blind: the fabric is held in fixed side channels down both edges, so a gust has nothing loose to grab.

A denser mix of buildings and ages

Green Point's apartment stock runs from older mid-century blocks to newer developments built up around the stadium era, so window sizes, sill depths and existing fixings vary more from building to building than the more uniform low-rise strip along the Mouille Point promenade. We measure each unit on its own terms rather than assuming a standard spec carries over from the block next door.

At a glance
  • Sunscreen percentage adjusted for park-facing versus sea-facing light
  • Same wind-rated, salt-air hardware as Mouille Point on anything outside
  • Mixed building ages measured individually, not assumed uniform
  • Body corporate approval checked before any exterior fitting is ordered
